Sanyo & Roku Announce a New Roku TV Partnership

Father curled up on the sofa with his two daughters. They are watching a movie with popcorn.

Today Roku announced they are adding one more brand to their Roku TV lineup with the addition of Sanyo.

“The new Sanyo Roku TVs will bring value, simplicity and tons of entertainment options to customers. They will run the Roku® operating system, which provides customers with access to an ever-growing library of entertainment and automatic software updates so they can be sure they have the latest and greatest features.” Sadi Chase Smith a Roku employee.

Roku says that the first Sanyo Roku TVs will ship this quarter to Canada helping Roku expand their footprint in Canada.

This comes after Roku recently announced partnerships with Philips, Magnavox, and RCA. It also comes as Roku recently in partnership with TCL has launched a new high-end line of Roku TVs. They also join existing brands like Sharp, Element, and Insignia.

So far the Roku TV licensing program seems to be a great win-win for Roku and the TV manufactures. Roku gets their platform on more products and TV manufactures no longer have to invest to maintain the OS after they sell the TV.
