Samsung Integrates Pluto TV Into Their Smart TVs Along Side OTA Channels

Do you own a newer Samsung smart TV? If you use an antenna to watch local channels you may have noticed that you suddenly have about 20 streaming channel alongside the channels from your antenna. It seems that over the weekend Samsung started to update more of their smart TVs to add channels from Pluto TV into their OTA TV channel guide next to channels from your antenna like ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC. This all comes as part of a TV Plus app that offers content from multiple services.

As best we can tell this integration started back in March of 2018. At that time it was only on a handful of Samsung smart TV models. Over the weekend Samsung added about 20 of Pluto TVs 100+ channels to their OTA guides.

Samsung is also an investor in Pluto TV. Back in October 2017, Samsung invested 5 million dollars from the Samsung Venture Investment Corporation into Pluto TV. At that time the CEO of Pluto TV said “Samsung is the global leader in the TV market, changing the way people experience entertainment through constant innovation,” said Tom Ryan, CEO of Pluto TV. “Their investment in Pluto TV is a great vote of confidence in our mission to bring free Internet television to consumers everywhere.”

Samsung has confirmed to Cord Cutters News that this new feature is currently available on 2018 and 2017 Smart TVs with more coming soon.
