Roku Was The Most Popular Streaming Player During The World Cup According to fuboTV

The 2018 World Cup has come to an end and we are now getting a look at just how Americans watched the event. Now, fuboTV has given an in-depth look at how Americans viewed the 2018 World Cup.

According to fuboTV Roku was the most popular streaming player used to watch the World cup. The most popular mobile devices were the iPhone. Before the knockout stage, the most popular teams/most viewed were Mexico, Germany, and Argentina. The peak time to watch was 3 pm ET, one hour into the 2 pm ET-scheduled matches.

According to fuboTV their app had a record-breaking 900,000+ downloads during the month (iOS and Android) and was in the top 100 grossing iOS apps in the U.S. Downloads of fuboTV’s app grew by 713% during the first week of Russia 2018 (from 38K weekly app installs to 309K installs), according to Sensor Tower.

Seeing Roku as the most popular streaming watching the World Cup is no surprise. For some time now Roku has dominated the US market with over half of all streaming players sold being a Roku. According to a recent survey of our readers, 70% of them used a Roku. This once again shows why if a streaming service is not on Roku they are severely limiting their reach within the cord cutting community.
