Roku Wants to Integrate the Roku Channel into Roku Players & Roku TVs

The Roku ChannelYesterday, Roku announced its fourth-quarter 2019 earnings. During the call, Roku’s CEO Anthony Wood opened up about the future of the Roku Channel. According to Wood, Roku is looking at ways to better integrate the Roku Channel into the OS on Roku players and Roku TVs.

Roku has long hinted that the Roku Channel would continue to be built into the OS. The question now is what how does Roku plan to integrate the Roku Channel into the Roku OS.

According to Parks Associates, the Roku Channel is one of the three most popular free streaming services. Roku reported that they make $23.14 per Roku user a year, up $5.19 from the same period in 2018. A lot of that growth comes from ads on services like the Roku Channel.

This means that Roku will make $115.70 per user if they own their device for five years. With revenue like that you can see why Roku will want to push services that show more ads like Pluto TV and the Roku Channel. Building the Roku Channel into the OS could help drive more ad views and help bring in more revenue per user.
