Roku Wants to Be on Half of All TVs Worldwide

bedroom with roku televisionRecently, Anthony Wood, CEO of Roku, was interviewed by CNBC. In that short interview, he was asked about Roku’s recent growth and how he sees the company continuing to expand in the future.

“My goal would be to be in over 50 percent of all TVs around the world,” Wood said in the interview when asked if he had a target number of people the company would be able to reach.

Last month, we shared insight from analysts who noted that Roku is currently growing faster than Netflix did at the same point. When Roku reported their 2nd quarter revenue, they also announced that they currently have 30 million active accounts. The William Blair firm says they expect Roku to have 80 million active accounts by 2025.

“There’s a billion broadband households in the world. They’re all going to get all of their TV from streaming,” Wood said. “It’s a huge opportunity to be the platform for TV worldwide.”

Working toward that goal of going worldwide, Roku recently announced  its Roku TV licensing program will be expanding into Europe with Hisense being the first European Roku TV partner.
