Roku to Release a Roku SE Player Before Thanksgiving

Roku SE

Update #2: We got our hands on a Roku SE and posted a unboxing here: https://cordcuttersnews.com/roku-se-unboxing-comparison-to-the-roku-1/

Update: Roku PR has replied to our email for comment and said:

“It’s a special edition model in limited supply for the Black Friday weekend. It will be available at most retailers online and in store.” They went on to add that the Roku SE will run the new Roku OS 7 with all the features of the new Roku OS 7.

Here is the original story:

It looks like Roku has one more trick up its sleeve called the Roku SE. Roku listed a Roku SE player for only $24 in a Best Buy Black Friday ad that showed up today.

It looks like the SE will be a replacement for their old low-end Roku LT and maybe a re-branded Roku 1.

It will be able to do 1080p HD Video, and it looks like it will have a composite video and an HDMI port. It will also be wireless N Wi-Fi compatible.

Here is the description from the Best Buy Site:

Roku SE Streaming Player: With access to more than 2,000 channels, including more than 250,000 movies, TV episodes, games, music, sports and international and kids content, Roku SE offers entertainment for the whole family. You can control the streaming player using either the included remote or your mobile device. Just download the compatible app to get started.
