So what is my thoughts?
Both devices offer something that helps it stand out. Roku was faster in the bootup but the Fire TV had a slight edge loading some apps like Netflix.
Roku’s voice search is greatly improved with the Roku OS 8.0 update but the Fire TV still has a lead there.
The Roku Stick+ remote will allow you to power on and off the TV and control the volume of your TV from the remote. The Fire TV does not offer that option.
So what would I recommend?
Well, there is not enough here to make a Roku owner switch to the Fire TV or a Fire TV owner switch to Roku. They both offer something and both have app the other does not etc.
My suggestion would be to get the device you are already comfortable with. You really cannot go wrong with both of them.
