Roku has started rolling out an update to its Android mobile app that adds a new Home section, Zones, and other features aimed at accompanying the company’s new OS 10.5 release. Users of Roku’s iOS mobile app received a similar update earlier this month, but the company says Android users should start seeing the update on Friday, Oct. 15th as it rolls out to all users on the mobile platform over the coming weeks.
The Android update comes on the heels of Roku’s latest hardware release, the Streaming Stick 4K and 4K+. You can check out our full review of that device here and via our latest video.
As for the update itself, some of the most noticeable changes include the addition of a new Home tab and Save Lists to make organizing and scheduling content easier for mobile users.
Elsewhere in the new app, users have access to new audio options like A/V sync for private listening mode. The feature lets you fine-tune connected headphones to hopefully eliminate any audio/video sync issues. Users of the company’s audio gear, like the Streambar or Streambar Pro also get access to sound settings via the mobile app. Roku says that can be handy for quickly adjusting audio settings without interrupting the onscreen action.
The updates are aimed at making the mobile apps better companions for Roku’s new OS 10.5 release, which is also rolling out to eligible streaming devices this month.
