Reddit users have a spotted what looks like a new remote control option for Roku users. The new Voice Remote Pro appears to offer up some familiar features, including personal shortcuts and a remote finder feature. But it looks like it’s ditching traditional AA batteries for a built-in, rechargeable option instead.
According to a screenshot in the original Reddit post, the company is offering the new Voice Remote Pro via its Early Access Program. The listing states, “We want your two cents! Join our Early Access Program and help us perfect our newest remote.”
In all, the listing mentions several key features for the remote, including:
- Rechargeable battery
- Remote finder
- Voice input
- Personal shortcuts
- Private listening more (headphones not included)
There’s also mention of a $29.99 price point and a ship date of Feb. 19, 2021. Of course, if this is indeed a small test phase for a new remote, we’ll likely see a later date listed for an official release.
We reached out to Roku regarding the new accessory and the company replied with the following statement: “We’re always working on bringing new products and features to Roku users, and part of that process is publicly testing new ideas with a small set of our customers.”
