According to a statement on Roku’s website, “We are migrating to new and more scalable servers to accommodate more Roku customers and partners. This migration will take place on August 23, 2017 from 5:00am to 11:00am PT.”
During this maintenance work you will be able to stream with the Roku Channels you currently have but you will be unable to activate new Roku devices, access the Roku Channel Store, and make select streaming purchases through Roku Billing.
The good news is that Roku is working to be ahead of what seems to be solid growth. While no issues have been reported, Roku wants to make sure Roku users never notice any issues by moving to a more robust server system.
Roku ended its statement with the following message: “We appreciate your patience and support as we make these improvements to scale the Roku platform.”
