Roku Now Has 70 Million Active Accounts

Roku saw strong growth in 2022 with the addition of 9.9 million new accounts, according to Roku’s 4th quarter 2022 earnings report. This brings the total of active accounts to 70 million. In total, Roku had 87.4 billion hours streamed up 19% year over year.

This all comes as Roku has been expanding its free streaming service to drive more views and more ad revenue. Recently Roku and Warner Bros. Discovery struck a deal that will bring content from Scripps, Discovery, Warner Bros., and HBO to The Roku Channel over the next few months.

To help drive up device sales, Roku will release its own line of TVs under the Roku brand.

The company said the following in a statement:

These TVs will complement our successful Roku TV licensing program and enable us to further grow our leadership position and expand into the higher-end spectrum of performance TVs. Roku-branded TVs will also help us innovate more quickly in all aspects of hardware and software and test directly with consumers, improving the product and consumer experience and strengthening all TVs powered by Roku OS.

The Roku Select and Plus Series TVs will be available in the U.S. in spring 2023 with retail prices ranging from $119 to $999 for the full lineup of 24” – 75” models. The lineup will feature 11 models with Roku Voice Remotes for all HD offerings, while all Plus Series TVs will come with Roku Voice Remote Pros.

Roku is still the most popular smart TV OS in the United States and, according to our readers, the #1 streaming player for cord cutters.
