Roku is The Most Popular Cord Cutting Streaming Player, Beating Out Fire TV and Apple TV (Cordie Award 2019 Winners)

While there isn’t one streaming device that works for every cord cutter, some are recommended and chosen over others. In this category, we asked you which streaming device you prefer over all others.

According to Cord Cutters News readers, the best streaming players/TVs of 2019 are Roku devices with 59.3% of the vote. Fire TV was next with 22.9% of the vote. Apple TV came in at 9.1% of the vote.

Rounding out the list were Android TV with 5.5% of the vote and Chromecast with 0.9%. The other 2.3% included all other devices – smart TVs, gaming consoles, etc.

These numbers are in line with recent news from an eMarketer report published by Bloomberg. That report showed that while Amazon is seeing growth with Fire TV devices around the world, Roku is still the top streaming player sold in the US. Roku is expected to keep up its lead through 2023. It looks like our readers agree with cord cutters around the country who prefer Roku to other devices.

We’re looking forward to seeing which new devices hit the market in 2020 and whether Amazon or Apple can catch up to the popularity of Roku.
