Roku is Reportedly Expanding Internationally

roku premiere plusToday Variety reported that Roku will try to grow its user base by expanding into Brazil and other countries around the world. Roku is already in a few markets outside of the United States including Mexico and Canada but is not as widespread as some of their competitors. Now Roku is looking to fix that by expanding to more countries.

Recently, the court system in Mexico has had some issues, but Roku won their case in the 11th Collegiate Court in Mexico City. This case allows Roku to once again sell Roku players in Mexico after an earlier court case banned sales of Roku players in the country.

This all comes from a case Cablevision started against some unofficial 3rd party Roku Channel makers in Mexico. They accuse them of making apps for Roku Players that can be used to pirate their content. A few weeks ago, Cablevision won a temporary ban on the sale of Roku players in Mexico.

Now that Roku has settled its legal issues in Mexico, Roku seems to be expanding into new markets.
