Roku Dives Deeper Into Sports

Starting today, Roku owners can now live-stream all their favorite women’s sports teams with its new Women’s Sports Zone. The new channel premieres mere days before the Women’s National Basketball Association starts its next season this Friday, May 19th, and is available to stream for free through ION’s FAST Channel.

Roku is also launching a Golf section in its sports zone. Now you can find all things golf all in one spot on Roku.

The Women’s Sports Zone will feature live-streaming sports events from the National Women’s Soccer League, the Ladies Professional Golf Association, the US Women’s World Cup, the US Women’s Open, and more.

The Roku Channel will also feature its new Women’s Sports Network in addition to highlighting female-focused sports documentaries, films, and other content such as The Longshots, Prodigy, and Bring It! to name a few titles from its free service.

Last year, 30 percent of sports fans started watching more women’s events compared to the last five years. With Roku’s new Women’s Sports Zone, women’s sports are more accessible than ever before and customizable to each user’s preferences.

“The popularity and demand for women’s sports is greater than ever, and at Roku, we continue to commit to elevating this important programming for our customers. At a time when it is harder than ever to find what you want to watch, our new Women’s Sports Zone makes it easier for fans to get to the content they love, and it arrives just in time for the tip-off of the WNBA season this Friday,” says Kelli Raftery, Roku’s Vice President, Global Communications.

Roku users can find the Women’s Sports Zone under the Sports Experience section. From the Homescreen, scroll down to Sports and click The Women’s Sports Zone icon, then select Browse by Sports. You can narrow down your search results by entering a team name or league. All sports-related content, both professional and collegiate, is available based on seasonality.

This feature is also available on Roku’s Mobile App for sports fanatics on the go.
