In the new leak Roku confirms that both the Roku Premiere and the Roku Ultra boxes will support 4K HDR.
HDR is available on the following Roku player models:
- Roku Premiere (Model 4620)
- Roku Premiere+ (Model 4630)
- Roku Ultra (Model 4640)
What HDR format do the new Roku Premiere+ and Ultra models support?
The new Roku Premiere+ and Roku Ultra models support HDR-10 standard.
They also talk about the internet speed and bandwidth requirements.
Will 4K HDR content require more bandwidth?
No additional bandwidth is needed, however each channel will have different speed requirements.
Roku recommends that you check with the specific channel for Internet speed requirements, considering factors like the desired video quality.
For example, Netflix currently recommends at least 25mbs to stream 4K UHD to stream content. For 4K HDR, at least 25mbs is highly recommended.
If you find that you need more speed, it’s time to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
How do I find HDR content on the Roku player?
4K HDR content can be found on select channels, and Movie store by Fandango channels on Roku as well as on the 4K Spotlight Channel.
If you do not have a 4K TV have no fear these boxes will support standard HD streams.
Will HDR benefit my 1080p Full HD TV, or non-HDR 4K TV?
The Roku Premiere+ and Roku Ultra will provide brilliant 1080p to non-4K TVs.
The Roku Premiere+ and Roku Ultra will provide incredible 3840p to 4K TVs without HDR support, but since they are not HDR-capable, they will not be able to take advantage of the Roku’s HDR benefits.
