Roku Bans cCloud TV as Their Piracy Crackdown Continues     

After their recent defeat in a Mexican court over piracy on Roku, it looks like Roku is once again continuing their crackdown. Last week they removed USTVNOW and now they have banned cCloud TV. This follows other popular private Roku channels being banned such as XTV and many others.

Roku is hoping if they can show they are aggressively banning channels that are seen as piracy they will get approved to restart sales in Mexico. While this move may upset some, Roku likely sees the loss of some pirate users in exchange for access to sell in Mexico as a fair exchange.

cCloud TV is a “cloud based media links sharing system… built by the community for the community.” cCloud compiles user-submitted links to streaming media (TV channels, movies, music, etc.) hosted elsewhere on the internet, and makes those links available through the cCloud website and apps on a variety of devices, including Roku. Like any other Roku channel, just find the content you want to watch, click on the link, and it will be streamed to your Roku. For comparision, cCloud TV is similar to the private Roku channel XTV and the now-defunct Justin TV.
