Roku Announces Exclusive Original Docuseries ‘The Fix’ Coming in January

Roku is expanding its original series slate with a brand new exclusive docuseries heading to the platform later this month. The Roku Channel will debut an all-new Roku Original “The Fix,” on Friday, January 21. The eight-part docuseries is based on the bestselling book ‘Chasing the Scream: The First and Last Days of the War on Drugs’ by Johann Hari, and will be narrated by Samuel L. Jackson.

The series tackles the question, what are the issues that have driven so many lives to addiction? The drug war in America has brought increased violence and suffering. Harsher sentencing has incarcerated record numbers yet had no impact on addiction. There has to be a better way.

“Almost everything that we, as society, think we know about drugs is false. The United States has fought the war on drugs for decades, but the painful consequences of addiction continue to rampantly impact our communities,” said director Jeremiah Zagar. “Roku Original “The Fix” boldly tackles this topic by debunking common misconceptions about drugs and highlighting alternative approaches to addiction. Audiences will walk away from “The Fix” with a clearer understanding of how we can combat this complex crisis.”

This marks the latest Roku Original docuseries to hit the platform, following previous titles including “Slugfest,” “Ten Weeks,” and “What Happens in Hollywood.”

The Roku Channel features a diverse lineup of more than 80,000 free movies and programs and 200+ free live linear television channels.
