Roku Announces a New Original Series “Team Rubicon”

Today, Roku announced an all-new original series Team Rubicon will premiere towards the end of May. The series is based on the real-life Team Rubicon, a humanitarian organization led by veterans and volunteers (known as Greyshirts) who provide aid to global communities before, during, and after disasters.

Team Rubicon was founded in 2010 following the Haiti earthquake and has since grown to over 150,000 volunteers throughout the United States. The organization focuses on disaster services and humanitarian crises, including mitigation, immediate response, and recovery, as well as rebuilding services, and medical services in addition to disaster risk reduction tactics. Team Rubicon has launched well over 1,100 operations both domestically and internationally.

“When disaster strikes, Team Rubicon responds. In this heartwarming series, we’ll follow Team Rubicon volunteers — military veterans, first responders, and dauntless everyday people — as they step up to serve communities in moments of need. Whether it’s a hurricane, wildfire mitigation, or flood, Team Rubicon is dedicated to long-term relief.”

Kevin O’Connor (This Old House), who also volunteers for the team, is set to host Team Rubicon and highlight the impactful work done by the organization. Join Kevin O’Connor and Team Rubicon’s CEO, Art delaCruz, along with a team of volunteers “as they witness firsthand the strength of the human spirit and the power of community in times of unimaginable stress and heartache” in disaster zones.

“The series gives not only a look at the life of a ‘Greyshirt’ in the field by sharing their incredible stories and the impact they have in the communities they serve. It also shares how their services promote resilience and recovery as the frequency and intensity of disasters increase. We thank Roku for joining our ranks and so genuinely sharing these stories and encourage everyone to join us and help before, during, and after disasters,” says Art delaCruz.

Time Rubicon will start streaming for free on the Roku Channel on Thursday, May 25th. There will be 13 half-hour episodes featuring Greyshirts providing live-saving aid to disaster survivors.
