Roku Adds Spectrum App Back to Roku Channel Store

After not being able to come to an agreement to renew their contract in December 2020, Roku removed the Spectrum TV app from the Roku Channel Store. Today, the app is back.

Roku and Charter sent Cord Cutters News a joint statement, saying: “Charter Communications and Roku have reached a mutually beneficial agreement to renew distribution of the Spectrum TV App (STVA) on the Roku platform. As a result of the renewal, the Spectrum TV App is now available for download from the Roku channel store.  We are pleased to renew our partnership and offer this great streaming experience to our shared customers.”

When the Spectrum TV app was removed, those who had already installed the app on their device were able to continue using it, but new customers could not download the app.

Last month, many Spectrum TV subscribers received an error message when they opened the app. Some users commented that after looking up the error code, the instructions said to resolve the issue, users could delete and re-install the app. Others said they called Spectrum customer support and were given the same advice. Unfortunately, the app wasn’t available to download again.

Those customers and all new customers can now find the app again in the channel store, and can use their Spectrum TV and Internet subscription to watch live TV and on demand content.
