Roku Adds Free Shows from Global TV in Canada

Yesterday, Roku announced that they have added Global TV giving Canadian cord cutters access to free Global TV content.

According to Roku, full episodes of Global series are available for free on Roku streaming devices for the first seven days after they air on television. This sounds similar to how services like ABC and NBC work in the US: available the next day with a TV provider or free with ads seven days later.

The good news for Canadian cord cutters is they are finally getting access to services like cord cutters in the United States have. The new Global TV service will give Canadians access to a growing amount of free content supported by ads on devices like Roku.

Hopefully, for Canadian cord cutters, Global TV’s launch on Roku will be the first of many Canadian services to jump into the world of free ad-supported streaming on Roku and other services.
