Review: Tablo Dual vs First Gen Tablo DVR

This week Tablo, the popular DVR for over-the-air TV, announced a new version of its popular DVR called Tablo Dual. Now, thanks to Tablo, Cord Cutters News got our hands on the new Tablo DVR and have put it side by side with the first generation Tablo DVR.

What Is a Tablo DVR?

The Tablo DVR lets you take your antenna and stream it to all of your media devices and even access it outside of your house. It also allows you to record your favorite over-the-air shows to watch when you want to.

Here is our video review:

So let us start by taking a look at the Tablo Dual vs the 1st Gen Tablo DVR.

Thoughts

The performance of the Tablo Dual is similar to the first gen Tablo DVR.  The inclusion of 64GB of storage to save about 40 hours of HDTV is nice, but you will still want an external HD. If you own a Tablo DVR already I wouldn’t rush out and buy a new one. We did not notice any performance change that would make us go buy a new one to replace older Tablo DVRs.

With that said, Tablo has once again delivered a solid, stable DVR with great features for cord cutters, making Tablo one of the best DVR options for cord cutters. If you want a DVR that will allow you to access your content anywhere at anytime this is the DVR for you.
