Report: Verizon May Be About to Shut Down Go90

Beautiful fashion girl learning on line with a tablet and headphones sitting on a bench in the streetWell, it looks like Verizon may be about to shut down their free streaming service Go90. This comes as Verizon VEO Tim Armstrong suggested that Go90 may be soon dismantled.

“The brand will remain I don’t know how long,” Armstrong said Tuesday at the Code Media conference in Huntington Beach, California. “Go90 was a super ambitious project, which was essentially trying to start an internet mobile video service from scratch,” Armstrong said. “It was highly likely we’re going to stub our toe a huge number of times.”

Now that is not to say the content will just vanish. From the looks of it, Verizon will be pushing the content over to their newly acquired Yahoo service to help build up Yahoo’s streaming service.

Recently Verizon has been pushing much of their content over to Yahoo. For example, they are now promoting their NFL deal as a Yahoo streaming deal first. It seems that Verizon once to build off of the brand and name recognition that Yahoo has that many Verizon properties do not have.

How exactly Verizon will disband Go90 or how quickly that will happen is still up in the air. For now, all we know is that it the Go90 brand will likely not be around much longer.
