Mary Meeker has released her annual Internet Trends Report and it’s full of insights about online behavior.
One interesting finding from the report is that 88% of Americans are using a second device when they watch TV. In the sides from her report, shared by Vox, Meeker shows data from Nielson that explains how people are using those second devices. 71% of those surveyed say they look up information about the content they’re watching and 41% say they message friends and family to talk about what they’re watching.
The report also showed that Americans are spending more time than ever consuming digital media. According to the research done by Mary Meeker, Americans spent 6.3 hours a day with digital media in 2018, which is 7% higher than 2017. More than a quarter of American adults say they’re “almost constantly online.”
One more interesting piece of information related to cord cutters. The report took a look at the reasons people try a new streaming service. According to the results of the study, the top incentive for trying a new service is a free trial. Other reasons include the content library, access to exclusive content, and a good user experience.
