Report: Fox News is Launching a Streaming Service Called “Fox Nation”

Today it was reported that Fox News will be launching a new streaming service called “Fox Nation.” The new service will be a stand-alone subscription service available without a cable package according to The New York Times.

According to reports by the end of the year, the service will launch and is “designed to appeal to the Fox superfan,” the “folks who watch Fox News every night for hours at a time, the dedicated audience that really wants more of what we have to offer.”

The only question still to be announced is what exactly will air on the new network. Reports are that current cable contracts may ban Fox from selling access to Fox News as it is today. We should know for sure later today as an official announcement is expected later today.

Recently it was reported that Fox plans to focus more on news and sports in an effort to fight back against cord cutting. Both news and sports are seen as safer bets as many Americans are still willing to watch them live. This allows for higher ad sales vs a program most viewers watch later and skip over the ads.
