Report: Apple Plans to Sell Video Subscription Through Their TV App

Today it was reported that Apple plans to expand their TV app to include the ability to subscribe to video services. From the sounds of the program, it sounds very similar to Amazon Channels a service from Amazon that lets you subscribe to multiple services and manage all the billing through Amazon. Now Apple wants to be that central repository allowing you to manage multiple subscriptions and streaming through a single app.

This report comes from Bloomberg who sites sources with knowledge of the plan. Reports say Apple is hoping to generate $50 billion a year in revenue with the ability to manage subscriptions helping them hit that number.

Apple for some time now has been looking for a way to dive deeper into video streaming. So far their efforts have not paid off like the company has hoped. Now the question is will this new Apple TV subscription service will help them grow not only as a player but as a provider of streaming services.

Bloomberg did not comment on when this service will launch. It is very likely that Amazon is just now starting to talk with services about partnering up to allow subscribers to manage their subscriptions through the TV app. For now, we will have to wait and see what Apple does next.
