Redbox Partners with Lionsgate, Will Release 36 Original Movies Per Year

Redbox has announced a new multiyear partnership with Lionsgate to handle distribution of Redbox Entertainment titles across home entertainment as well as SVOD licensing for some Redbox films. The new deal will also give licensing rights of Lionsgate’s library of 17,000 titles to Redbox’s ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) and Free Ad Supported Television (FAST) services.

In addition, Redbox Entertainment plans to release 36 original movies each year including upcoming releases The Last Son (Colson Baker (a.k.a. musician Machine Gun Kelly) and Heather Graham), Bandit (Josh Duhamel and Mel Gibson) and Muti (Morgan Freeman and Cole Hauser), and more. They will join Redbox’s growing library of recent releases like Capone (Tom Hardy), and Shadow in the Cloud (Chloë Grace Moretz and Nick Robinson).

“Redbox has a large slate of films coming in 2022 and beyond, and we’re excited to work with Lionsgate to identify those that are a great fit for their distribution model,” said Galen Smith, CEO of Redbox. “Ron Schwartz and his team have been terrific partners over the years, and we are excited to extend our relationship to tap into their world class distribution prowess to create value for both companies.”

Redbox’s AVOD streaming service has thousands of popular movies and TV series available on the platform and has recently reached more than 100 Free, Ad Supported channels with plans to add more in the coming months.
