Redbox is Giving Netflix DVD Customers Free Movie Rentals

Later this week, Netflix will mail its last DVD by mail. Now, Redbox wants Netflix DVD customers to know they can be their new home for movie rentals.

Today, Redbox announced that it would be giving free rentals to Netflix DVD customers if they sent them a photo of their red Netflix envelope on X, formerly known as Twitter. If you send them a photo, you may receive a code for a free DVD rental.

“Redbox continues to be a destination for millions of consumers, and we’re thrilled to expand our kiosk offerings to include hard-to-find titles and classic movies that everyone enjoys,” said William J. Rouhana, Jr., chief executive officer and chairman of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment. “We are expanding our content offerings at approximately 29,000 kiosks to include third-party studio titles and new movies such as Barbie and Oppenheimer, which will be available in the coming months. I look forward to hearing from former DVD.com customers on the titles they want to see at our kiosks.”

Redbox is also adding more movies in new catalogs and niche titles to help former Netflix DVD customers find what they are looking for, including titles like Ugly Dolls and Jerry Maguire. There will also be hit movies like Oppenheimer and Barbie available for rent in Redbox kiosks, according to the company.

Redbox has been renting DVDs for over 20 years now and has rented over two billion discus during that time.
