Let the memes begin…Quibi has just released a new feature that lets users screenshot its shows, but like seemingly everything the streamer does, it has to be in a format that takes some getting used to. Instead of the home+lock buttons for iOS or volume button for Android, screen shotting on Quibi consists of holding down your finger on any part of the screen and sliding to the screenshot option. Simple enough.

It sounds like the DRM Quibi uses causes mobile apps to block screenshots due to rights issues, so Quibi had to get creative to find a solution. While app developers are still working out the bugs (subtitles don’t seem to be captured in the current experience), the new screenshot feature is available in the latest Quibi app update.
The “quick bite” streamer was once very adamant about not allowing cross-platform sharing but has recently changed its tune. In a move that goes against Quibi as a short form mobile platform stood for in the beginning, the app now lets you watch on your big screen via Airplay and Chromecast, with talks of Roku and Fire TV apps in the works. This new screenshotting feature is Quibi’s latest effort to get its content mainstream, now even seeming to encourage sharing on social media platforms.
“Mock the Golden Arm with precise photographic evidence! Share your cel-drawn horoscope with the world! Photoshop your own head onto action star @KevinHart4real! That’s right, @quibi has screenshots. Kinda,” Quibi’s Chief Content Officer Tom Conrad said in a Twitter post.
