Quibi Adds Chromecast Support for iOS and Android

After launching with the message of being a mobile-only streaming service, Quibi quickly got feedback from subscribers who wanted the option of watching content on a larger screen.

We shared the news in April that Quibi planned to add the casting feature. At that time, despite calling Quibi a mobile-only streaming service before the launch, CEO Meg Whitman said the team always planned to make Quibi available on other devices.

In May, Quibi added AirPlay support, allowing those with the Quibi app on their iPhones to cast content on TVs. Chief Product Officer Tom Conrad announced that update on Twitter, along with sharing the news that Chromecast support would follow.

Now, Quibi has added Chromecast support, for iOS and Android users.

One downside to watching Quibi content on a larger screen is that you’ll lose out on the Turnstyle feature which allows mobile users to switch between horizontal and vertical viewing.

The streaming service still does not have support for Fire TV, Roku, or streaming platforms.
