What Is the Most Popular Live TV Streaming Service? We Asked Our Readers

Live TV streaming is one of the fastest growing markets not only in cord cutting but in media overall.

Hard numbers from each service have been hard to come by, but we have some ideas. We have reports and sources that have been fairly consistent; however, one of the ways we can find out is to ask our readers.

We asked over 1,100 of our readers and the following are the most popular live TV streaming services:

The big change here from our last survey is DIRECTV NOW saw a drop from 24.5% in our spring survey to 19.8% this month. This pull back is consistent with reports from other sources. It is very possible that both Hulu and YouTube TV are drawing many of their subscribers from DIRECTV NOW.

Both Sling TV and PlayStation Vue saw little change—less than 0.5% for both of them. (Note Fubo TV did not hit 1%.)

Overall it is clear that Sling TV and PlayStation Vue are the leaders. What will happen 3 months from now? Sling TV just added a traditional guide—something many had asked for. Verizon, Centurylink, and Comcast are rolling out live TV streaming services.

The live TV streaming market is getting more crowded by the day. Will Sling hold on to its lead? Will DIRECTV NOW see growth or keep sliding? We will have to wait and see what happens.
