Pluto TV Has a Team Dedicated to Finding Niche Content

The secret behind Pluto TV’s strong lineup of curated channels is simple. It’s the team of experts who find and organize the streaming service’s content.

On the ViacomCBS news site, the company highlighted some of those individuals, sharing stories of how they got their start working with the free streaming service and how they find the best possible content for the channels they manage.

This team is responsible for bringing content to the 200+ channels available for free on Pluto TV.

“Pluto TV literally has something for everyone. If you love wrestling, we have a fight channel. If you love cats and just want to watch cats doing cat things, we have a cat channel. And if you want to watch the news, we have a ton of providers that should satisfy liberals and conservatives alike,” says Brian Rodriguez, Pluto TV’s a.m. news editor.

To find the content to fill those channels, Pluto TV brought in the experts. For the Fight channel, Spike Pluto TV, and Combate Americas (among others)? Pluto TV hired MMA fighter Andrew “The Squid” Montanez. For news channels including Pluto TV Election and Today’s Top Story? Pluto TV brought in Brian Rodriguez, a former local TV reporter.

“I like selecting content that can easily set up an awesome marathon or great double feature, something that the public will like and movie geeks will love,” said Drew Platt, a Channel Editor in charge of channels including 80’s Rewind and AwesomenessTV.

If you’ve scrolled through the Pluto TV guide and found yourself settling in for a marathon of a favorite show from your childhood, there was a Pluto TV content curator behind the scenes putting it together.

With the ViacomCBS merger, we’ll likely see even more curated channels coming to the Pluto TV lineup. What genres and topics do you want to see? Let us know in the comments!
