Pluto is Showing Free In-Person Movies, Kicking Off the Tony Awards, and More in June

Summer is here and Pluto TV is kicking things off with in-person movies, celebrating moth-long events, and getting in on award show action. Here are some of the upcoming events, all for free on Pluto TV.

Summer of Cinema

Pluto TV is adding a new slate of movies to its free streaming lineup with the Summer of Cinema, a season-long event in June, July, and August. The titles will include fan-favorites and blockbuster franchises including Mission: Impossible, Indiana Jones, Terminator, Star Trek, Interstellar, and The Wolf of Wall Street. Check out the full list of movies coming to Pluto TV in June, here.

Free Movie Weekend

Pluto TV is bringing back its award-winning ‘Free Movie Weekend’ program this summer. The initiative supports family-run and independent theaters across the country by offering complimentary movie tickets on select weekends, encouraging local attendance. This year, Pluto is teaming up with Oscar-winning director and champion of independent film and movie theaters, Sean Baker, to help amplify the program’s core mission: making beloved movies easily accessible to audiences while celebrating the importance of the theater-going experience as an invaluable part of the film entertainment ecosystem.

“Free Movie Weekend is a meaningful initiative that shares a cause close to my heart. Local cinemas are cultural touchstones, they are gathering places where communities come together to experience stories as they were meant to be seen: on the big screen,” Baker said in a statement earlier this month.  “I’m honored to partner with Pluto TV to help spotlight the independent theaters that play such a vital role in sustaining the art of cinema.”

Here’s the schedule for this summer:

Tony Awards: Act One

Broadway’s biggest night is coming to Pluto TV. The Tony Awards: Act One is a live pre-show that will be hosted by first-time nominee Darren Criss and Tony Award winner Renée Elise Goldsberry on Sunday, June 8 from 6:40-8:00 p.m. ET before the award show begins.

Black Music Month Returns

In June, Pluto TV is bringing back The Black Collective, a pop-up category that celebrates Black artists and music. All month, users will find documentaries, films, concert specials, and music video marathons on channels including Black Cinema, Black Visionaries, Live Music, Vevo True School Hip-Hop, Love & Hip Hop, 4UV, XITE Gospel, Vevo R&B, and Yo! MTV.

Pride Month on Pluto TV
