Plex Adds Live TV Service with Over 80 Channels

Plex announced today that it has added a live TV feature with 80+ channels of customizable programming. Most channels will be available worldwide and more will be available soon.

Prior to today’s announcement of the new live channels, Plex was already offering OTA TV and a DVR feature that allowed users to connect their antenna and tuner. The new live channel service doesn’t require any hardware or setup. Similarly to other free streaming services like The Roku Channel, you’ll get instant access to the channels, all for free.

“Two of the most important factors for an enjoyable streaming experience are easily being able to find something of interest to watch, and being able to watch it from any device you choose,” said Keith Valory, CEO of Plex. “Plex offers consumers across the globe a simple yet powerful platform for access to all types of content that can be streamed from all types of devices.”

Plex acts as a home for all of your content. In addition to the new live channels and ad-supported on-demand content, Plex offers podcasts, news, and music streaming from TIDAL, along with allowing users to upload their personal music collections.
