Here’s a short intro from Artie.

Hi guys, I’m Artie Beaty, and I’m excited to be contributing to the network here at Cord Cutters News.

I’ve been a writer for the past 20 years, starting in college as a freelancer. I got my degree in English with a minor in journalism from UNC Charlotte and I’ve worked at a local newspaper since graduation. Yep, small town newspapers still exist!

I live just outside Charlotte now with my wife and two kids and I still freelance on the side. I also have a weekend gig as a ghost tour guide in Charlotte, so you could say I love telling stories!

Confession time: I was a little late to fully cut cable, only finally getting rid of it about a year ago. My wife’s parents are at our house frequently helping out with our kid while we’re at work, and I just thought it would be too much for them to learn. But once I finally did cancel cable, I found they adapted pretty fast to streaming TV, as did the rest of the family. Why didn’t I do that sooner?

When it comes to streaming, I’m a bit of a documentary and historical/historical fiction nerd. Man in the High Castle is a favorite in our house, as is Hunters. Of course, as a child of the 80s, I’m a fan of Stranger Things too.

I’m truly looking forward to getting to know you all more and helping the team dive into the ever-changing landscape of streaming television.

Please join us in welcoming Artie to the team!
