Please Stop Asking DIRECTV NOW Chat About the DVR Release Date (They Don’t Know)

Latin woman looking disappointed at her laptopscreen, sitting behind her desk at the office.Almost daily for months now Cord Cutters News gets an email from someone who says DIRECTV NOW chat support says the DVR is coming on this date or that date.

Often these chat agents will tell you that yes tomorrow you will have it or next Monday for example. The truth is they don’t know when the DVR is coming and you may honestly know more about the DIRECTV NOW DVR than they do.

Chat agents are often third-party employees paid to read what is on the screen. Or they are support agents from AT&T who honestly just know what their screen shows them. Chat agents have no inside info 99% of the time.

So why do chat agents promise you the DVR is coming on a certain date?

I don’t know, but if AT&T is like other companies, they likely give bonuses to agents who quickly get to the next chat request. Many call centers reward agents for how quickly they get to the next call and how happy the customer is. This leads some agents to say anything they think you want to hear so you will give them a high rating and get off the chat line.

So please stop messaging chat agents about the DVR release date. They don’t know and will likely say anything they think you want to hear.
