More PlayStation Vue Subscribers Are Getting Free Upgrades

About a week ago PlayStation Vue started giving free upgrades to its Elite plan to many Access subscribers, but other Access subscribers did not get the upgrade.

Now it looks like Sony has started to give other PlayStation Vue subscribers the free upgrade to its Elite plan, but don’t expect an email telling you that you got the upgrade. Several readers yesterday told Cord Cutters News that they just suddenly saw a ton of additional channels in their PlayStation Vue app.

This upgrade will give lucky PlayStation Vue subscribers access to the $54.99 a month Elite Slim plan that includes 90-plus HD channels for six months. After the free upgrade ends, subscribers will automatically be returned to the plan they had before the free upgrade.

Sony still has not commented on how it is picking which PlayStation Vue subscribers will get the upgrade. For now the selection seems to be almost at random because we first suspected that former Slim subscribers got the upgrade in exchange for the upcoming price hike; however, other readers say they already pay the higher price and still got the free upgrade.

For now it seems that Sony is hoping you will upgrade to a more expensive PlayStation Vue plan after the free period ends.

The free upgrades will end in January 2018 at which time the extra channels will vanish from your lineup.
