PlayStation Vue Reportedly Strikes a New Deal With The NFL Network But Warns NBA TV is Coming Up For Renewal

Today sources have told Cord Cutters News that PlayStation Vue has reportedly struck a deal to keep the NFL Network. This is not confirmed by Sony or the NFL but is believed to be highly likely. We will know for sure tomorrow if these sources are correct as Sony is still warning about the possibility of an NFL Network blackout. This is very similar to the renewals Sony had with NBCUniversal, Turner, and others last month. It was not until July 1st when Sony officially announced that they had reached the deal and would be raising their price. (Cord Cutters News finds it highly unlikely that Sony will raise PlayStation Vue’s price two months in a row.)

Sony has not updated its website to remove the warning about the NFL Network but did post new warnings that Eleven Sports and NBA TV are both coming up for renewal in August and September.

Here is the warning Sony has posted on their website about a possible blackout on PlayStation Vue:

Upcoming Renewals

Most of the programming/content you watch on PlayStation™Vue is licensed from programmers for the right to air their networks/channels. Once these agreements near expiration, we enter into renewal discussions where we work hard to try and obtain the best value for our customers. Though infrequent, sometimes certain licenses will not be renewed, in which case PlayStation™Vue would no longer carry the affected channels or networks. This section will be updated periodically to list channels and networks coming up for renewal. Please note that the dates listed below are subject to change.

July 2019

August 2019

September 2019

Talks like this are not new. Typically, a deal is made without blackouts. And, if the NFL Network is dropped from PlayStation Vue that does not mean it couldn’t return in the future.

This is breaking news we will post more as we learn more.
