PlayStation Vue Pushes Back on Sinclair’s Statement

Recently PlayStation Vue lost all Sinclair-owned ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC locals. Sinclair was quick to point the finger at Sony for not being “willing to meet certain requirements for carrying our stations.”

Now Sony has released an official statement on why Sinclair locals have been dropped. “We strive to provide the best value and experience for our customers,” Sony spokesperson Sam Fisher said in a statement sent to FierceCable. “Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we were unable to come to an agreement on terms with Sinclair for the continued carriage of their local stations.”

For now many are left wondering exactly what caused Sinclair to pull their locals. Many are speculating that money was a big part of the deal.

One of the main issues here is lack of communications with the end subscriber. Sony only started to notify subscribers that they are about to lose access. Now Sony and Sinclair are pointing fingers at each other as both sides forget that the end users were the ones hurt here.

The good news for cord cutters is that unlike with a cable TV subscription there is no contract with PlayStation Vue allowing subscribers to jump ship at any time.

For now it looks like Sinclair and PlayStation Vue are far from working out any issues to bring Sinclair channels back to PlayStation Vue.
