PlayStation Vue Is Making It Easier to Change Your Home Location

Cheerful family having popcorn while watching television at homeRecently PlayStation Vue updated their rules to allow out-of-home market streaming on devices such as Roku and the Fire TV. They also relaxed the rules for out-of-home streaming on mobile devices.

Now you can take a Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and more with you as you travel and enjoy PlayStation Vue; however, there are still limitations like the reduced number of streams outside the home, for example. Sony is also making it easier to set your home location.

In the past your home location was set based on your original billing address and IP you used to sign up with. If you moved you had to hope a pop up would show up on your PlayStation Vue app asking if you want to change your home location. This may or may not actually work.

When Cord Cutters News moved to a new office, we had to call Sony for help changing the location. On the call Sony said we had to cancel our subscription (losing everything in our DVR) and sign up again. This was obviously far from a perfect solution.

Now PlayStation Vue is updating their app on Roku, the Fire TV, and the Apple TV with a new setting option to change your home location.

When you go into settings you will find an App Settings tab. There you can set your current device as your home device. This will set PlayStation Vue’s home market for you to the location of that device. A far easier system than the older option.

Now there are limits on how many times you can change your home location. We are not sure how many times that is, but we expect Sony to crack down on anyone trying to abuse the system.
