PlayStation Vue Is Giving Away Free Upgrades to Random Subscribers

Do you subscribe to PlayStation Vue? You may soon be one of the lucky subscribers to get a free upgrade to PlayStation Vue Elite.

This is not the first time Sony has been giving away free PlayStation Vue upgrades to subscribers, but over the weekend it sent out a new batch of the upgrades scattered over several days.

Subscribers to Access Slim and Core Slim have been selected at almost random to get an upgrade to the $44.99 a month Elite Slim plan that includes 90-plus HD channels. The deal is good for 3 months and will cost subscribers nothing. After the 3 month upgrade ends, their accounts will automatically be returned to the plan they had before the free upgrade.

Users are being notified of the upgrade by a welcome screen when they log in to the app. (You can see the upgrade screen HERE.) While many of the upgrades seem to be for users who also have own a PlayStation, others say they use different devices.

Cord Cutters News has contacted Sony for comment, but at the time of this posting it has not replied. So we do not know why suddenly it is once again sending out the free upgrades. Though the timing could be an effort to fight off new entries in the market, DIRECTV NOW and YouTube TV along with older ones like Sling TV.

The deal also comes just before the expected release of Hulu’s new live TV streaming service in May. While we may not know why, if you are one of the lucky subscribers to get the upgrade you can now enjoy a free taste of Elite Slim.
