PlayStation Vue Cuts Their Free Trial Back to 5 Days

Watching TV, Watching, Living Room, Domestic Life, SmilingSadly if you missed out on the 14-day PlayStation Vue free trial you may be out of luck. About a week ago PlayStation Vue increased their free trial from 5 to 14 days. Now it looks like Sony has changed their free trial back to 5 days.

To fight against growing competition PlayStation Vue recently dropped many of the home restrictions that the service used to have. Now you can access PlayStation Vue outside the house even on a streaming player like Roku; however, some restrictions still apply.

Here is what their free trial looked like about a week ago:

At first many had speculated that the move to offer a 14-day free trial may have been Sony’s effort to stand out from services that typically offer a 7-day free trial. Now it looks like Sony has decided that move did not pay and now they want to evaluate how effective the 5-day free trial is after their 14-day free trial.

The live TV streaming market is increasingly crowded, but right now PlayStation Vue, DIRECTV NOW, and Sling TV together have 4 million subscribers with all other services fighting for the last 1 million.

The question now is what will happen a year from now after even more services launch. How will PlayStation Vue stand out in an ever growing crowd?
