PlayStation Vue Could Lose The Hallmark Channel & Tastemade in November

Playstation Vue LogoYesterday Sony announced it’s shutting down its live TV streaming service PlayStation Vue. The shutdown will happen on January 30th, 2019. Because of this decision, it is very unlikely that Sony will renew any deals that are coming up over the next few months.

Sony recently posted a warning that Crown Media, the parent company of The Hallmark Channel’s contract with Sony, expires in November. Sony also warned that Tastemade will be coming up for renewal in November as well.

The question now is if Sony will even try to reach a deal to keep the networks on PlayStation Vue for a couple of months. A deal like that is possible but it is more on Tastemade and Crown Media to agree to let PlayStation Vue keep the channels than it is up to Sony.

It is very possible that over the next few months PlayStation Vue will slowly lose channels as contracts come to an end. The good news is many contracts like the ones with NBCUniversal and Disney have recently been renewed. So many of the most popular channels should be on PlayStation Vue until it shuts down on January 30th, 2019.

Cord Cutters News is reaching out to Crown Media for a statement and will update this story as we learn more.
