PlayStation Vue Comes to Roku Players & Android Devices

ROKU-4-REMOTE-3QUARTER-USBSony’s cord cutting service PlayStation Vue is now available on Roku players starting at $29.99 a month with live streams from 55+ cable channels.

The addition of Roku players brings PlayStation Vue to a huge new base of subscribers as some reports suggest that up to 60% of home streaming media players are Roku devices.

From the Sony Press Release:  “Starting today, PlayStation Vue becomes accessible to even more users as the internet-based live TV service expands to Roku devices, one of the most popular streaming media players in the U.S. Additionally, the PlayStation Vue mobile app is coming to Android smartphone and tablets next week.”

With PlayStation Vue Roku owners now have a second option for live TV in the Roku channel store, giving them access to a range of live TV channels with up to five streams at once as long as you are in your home network. Outside of your house you can use your PlayStation Vue login to access content through apps such as WatchESPN.

PlayStation Vue is available on PlayStation 4, Google Chromecast, PS3, Amazon Fire TV, and Fire TV Stick on your TV. Vue is also available on iPad/iPhone through the PlayStation Vue mobile app and now Roku players.

This is just the latest in what is turning into a back and forth fight between PlayStation Vue and Sling TV. Both services seem dedicated to trying to one up the other with very different approaches to how a streaming service like this should work.

For now it is way too early to say who will win as we are still in the very early days of a new cord cutting world.
