PlayStation Vue Clarifies DVR Limitations

Cheerful family having popcorn while watching television at homeOne of the main reasons people love PlayStation Vue is the DVR. Yet there has always been a debate about some of the limitations around how many shows you can really record.

Back in March, Sony created some confusion when they updated their home page removing the 28-day limit and replacing it with a 500-episode limit.

Here is a screenshot from the March update:

Now some readers have pointed out that Sony has once again updated their home page to clearly explain the PlayStation Vue DVR limitations. Here is what the home page looks like today:

According to PlayStation Vue, you can keep your recordings for 28 days. Though now they are confirming something many had speculated about. Yes, there is a limit on how many episodes you can record. According to Sony, they cut it off at 500 episodes.

For the vast majority of Americans, 500 episodes is more than enough. If you would record 500 30-minute episodes it is 250 hours of content or just over 10 days of nonstop recording. You can get even more if you record longer form programming.

Now the FAQ page for the PlayStation Vue DVR still does not list anything about a 500-program limit but it’s clearly displayed on the home page along with the networks the DVR does not support. (Mostly some local CBS affiliates.)

Hopefull,y Sony updates the FAQ page to remove any possible confusion over the DVR.
