PlayStation Vue Adds Alexa Voice Controls on The Fire TV

Yesterday Sony started to roll out a PlayStation Vue update to the Fire TV. This updated added the ability to control PlayStation Vue with your voice using the Alexa remote.

Here are all the new features they added:

What’s new in version 3.16.9

Now you can tell Alexa to “Play”, “Pause”, “Rewind”, “Fast Forward”, and more. You can also ask PlayStation Vue to jump to a channel just by asking, for example, you could say “switch channel to ESPN” or “tune to ESPN”.

You can even give PlayStation Vue very exact commands like rewind 30 seconds” or “fast forward 3 minutes” to name a few.

Sony made now big press announcement about the new feature just quietly added it to the update notes on the Amazon website. It is possible that the new Alexa voice controls are still in beta and Sony is hoping to test them out on Fire TV devices with users who discover the new feature. So do not be surprised if you find some glitches along the way.
