Philo Will Lose Two Channels This Month

Live TV service Philo will be two channels short later this month. AXS and HDNet will leave the service on July 31, according to a company spokesman.

AXS offers music-related programming such as concerts and reality shows, while HDNet is a movie channel. Both are owned by HDNet LLC. Cord Cutters News was initially tipped off by a screenshot of a notification sent to subscribers.

The shakeup comes amid broader changes to the streaming live-TV landscape, including a price hike by YouTube TV and the rebooting of Max (formerly HBO Max), as the price for streaming services continues to rise.

Philo competes with YouTube TV, Hulu and Sling, among others in the live TV streaming game.

Philo confirmed the move and said it wanted to give users a heads up so they could watch their saved content.
