Philo Updates Their Roku Channel With a Fresh Look

A few days ago, Philo rolled out an update with a new look on select Roku devices. This updated look removed one feature many Roku owners seem to miss. The Live TV tab is now gone from select Roku players. (Note: Some Roku models like the Roku Express have not been updated yet.)

Several readers have asked if Philo will be re-adding the Live TV tab, but it looks like it is gone for good. In a statement on Reddit about the removal Philo said: “We felt that the Live page was similar to the Guide but less functional. On top of that, there’s also the Trending Live row on the Home page. What do you miss about the Live page? It should be just as simple to start live playback.”

This news comes after Philo added a more traditional TV guide on Roku players in October. Before that Live TV was the main way to access Philo on your Roku. Now that there is a guide on Roku it seems that Philo is slowly phasing out the Live TV tab.

At this time there is no word on when more Roku models like the Roku Express will receive the new updated Philo Roku Channel.
