Philo is Expanding its Ad Sales Program

Update: Philo reached out to Cord Cutters News to say the B&C report that Philo had almost 8 million subscribers was in error. According to Philo their press released talked about all live TV streaming services having almost 8 million subscribers including Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, DIRECTV NOW, & More.

Today Philo announced that they are teaming up with several advertising partners to help expand their advertising partnership. To help with this growth Philo has partnered up with a new ad company to expand its ad program. Philo reportedly wants to make it easy for advertising to buy ads on Philo’s growing platform.

“At Philo, we built our TV streaming platform from the ground up to appeal to a new generation of TV lovers, and we have kept that same philosophy as we’ve built our ad platform: to appeal to brands looking for a frictionless advertising experience in a vMVPD world,” said Reed Barker, head of advertising at Philo. “We’re partnering with best-in-class SSPs and DSPs, and we’ve aligned with content partners to provide a consistent, brand-safe programming environment. As a result, we’re able to offer an elegant, sophisticated advertising solution to agencies and brands to accompany a TV experience consumers love.”

Part of Philo’s growth comes from their continued efforts to expand the service. Back in February Philo added support for the Fire TV Channel Guide. You will now be able to bring up the Fire TV Channel Guide to see what is live on Philo. You can also, with the help of a Fire TV Recast DVR, have your Philo channels in the same guide as the channels from your antenna.

Philo also recently added a new channel. CLEO TV a lifestyle and entertainment channel for Millennial and Gen X women of color. Content on the channel focuses on lifestyle topics like cooking, home design, relationships, and documentary style series. Launched in January 2019, the channel celebrates iconic women throughout history and provides content to challenge the stereotypes of modern women.
