Philo Adds Support for the Fire TV Channel Guide

Family Watching Television Together Arguing Over RemoteEver wish you could view the channels from your antenna and Philo all in the same place? Now with the Fire TV, you can do just that.

Recently Philo added support for the Fire TV’s Channel Guide. You will now be able to bring up the Fire TV Channel Guide to see what is live on Philo. You can also, with the help of a Fire TV Recast DVR, have your Philo channels in the same guide as the channels from your antenna.

This all comes a day after we learned that Philo wants to add locals and Philo channels side by side thanks to Google’s Live Channels app.

This was first spotted on Reddit by a user who pointed out that they could access their Philo channels and local channels through their antenna on the Google Live Channel app. Yet the integration seemed less than complete.

In response, Philo’s official Twitter account said:

Oops, we enabled this completely on accident. We will build a proper integration with Live Channels, but believe it or not, it is non trivial. We’re doing some other work on the player in support of our mobile Android app (!!!) that we need to finish up before we can take on Live Channels.

Again, apologies for the false hope on this one!
