‘Perry Mason’ Renewed for a Second Season on HBO

Today HBO announced its mystery drama series Perry Mason for a second season. This news comes just before the Season 1 finale hits the HBO Max streaming service on August 9.

“It has been an exciting journey to work with the immensely talented team behind PERRY MASON,” said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming. “Viewers have relished being transported back in time to 1930’s Los Angeles each week, and we are thrilled to welcome the show back for a second season.”

Perry Mason came on to the HBO scene as the network’s most-watched series premiere in nearly two years. Episode one has now been seen by 8 million viewers and counting. HBO is looking to keep that momentum up with a second season of the remake based on the classic lawyer character.

Everyone is guilty of something. The new original series Perry Mason, starring Emmy winner Matthew Rhys, premiered June 21 at 9PM on HBO. Based on characters created by Erle Stanley Gardner, this drama series follows the origins of American Fiction’s most legendary criminal defense lawyer, Perry Mason. When the case of the decade breaks down his door, Mason’s relentless pursuit of the truth reveals a fractured city and just maybe, a pathway to redemption for himself.
